Fake carbonara

Hello, hello! Here’s another recipe that I’ve tried one day and it came out reeeeally good! Nothing better than a quick recipe that everyone likes, right? Here it goes a kind of carbonara, more nourishing than the original and, obviously, without animal cruelty. Perfect isn’t it? Keep reading! 🙂

I’ve already made two versions of this recipe and this image is just the last one! During this post, I’ll explain the big difference between the two versions, and which came out better in my opinion 🙂

You will need (serves 3):

Base ingredients:

  • 2 pack of rice cream;
  • smoked tofu (125 g);
  • pepper;
  • salt;
  • cumin;
  • oregano;
  • garlic powder.
  • 2 carrots.

Ingredients of version 1:

  • ground flaxseed;
  • peas;
  • rice noodles (the wider ones).

Ingredients of version 2 (photo):

  • mushrooms;
  • rice noodles (the thinnest ones);
  • dehydrated onion.

Let’s start!

Regardless of the versions, cut the smoked tofu into small portions, as if it were bacon. Saute the tofu, with the carrots (in very small pieces) and the peas / mushrooms, in a wok. Boil some water and put the rice noodles. As soon as these are almost cooked, add the noodles in the wok. Season with cumin, salt, pepper, oregano and garlic. Mix well and slowly add the rice cream. Add (slowly) the ground flaxseed to give consistency to th4e rice cream (version 1).

Once everything is well blended and seasoned, it is ready. Add dehydrated onion (version 2) or oreganos (version 1), on top.

Which one got better? No doubt version 1! It got creamier and tastier. Of course you can add the vegetables you want.

Smoked tofu is great for fake steaks, or in this case, to pretend it’s bacon. The smoked tofu I usually consume is that of ALDI, from the brand GutBio. It’s cheap and delicious.

I hope you enjoyed! Kiss*
