Cabbage rolls

Another surprise from my mother! Hopefully more will come, because we love this kind of surprises 😛 These rolls were so good! Another omnivorous recipe turned into a vegan recipe 🙂 Let’s see?

You will need (serves 4 people):

  • 8 Leaves of cabbage;
  • 1 Onion;
  • 500 grams of smoked tofu (if you use the “normal” one, it has to be marinated);
  • Tomate paste;
  • Rice;
  • Garlic (6-8 cloves);
  • Salt;
  • Oregano;
  • Pepper.

Let’s start!

Preheat your oven to 220°C.

Wash well the cabbage leaves and cook them for 5 minutes in water and salt. Drain it and save it.

With your hands, crumble the smoked tofu. Keep it.

Sauté the (already cut) garlic and the onion for 4 minutes. Add the smoked tofu and let it brown. Season with salt and pepper and cook for another few minutes.

Place a portion of tofu with onion and garlic in the center of a cabbage leaf and wrap it to form a roll. Place the cabbage rolls in a pyrex. Spread tomato pulp over the cabbage rolls and put the pyrex in the oven for about 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, cook the rice.

After 30 minutes everything is ready. Put oregano on top of the rolls.

Enjoy your food!
